For U.S. citizens, several paradise islands are accessible without a passport, including U.S. territories and the state of Hawaii. A government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, is sufficient for air travel to these destinations.

Caribbean

1. Puerto Rico

This U.S. territory is a vibrant blend of cultures, offering a diverse vacation experience..

Best for: History lovers and foodies. Visitors can explore the colorful, colonial streets of Old San Juan, hike in the El Yunque rainforest, or relax on the white-sand beaches of Vieques and Culebra.

Best for: Variety and convenience. A closed-loop cruise starts and ends in the same U.S. port and can stop at foreign destinations like the Bahamas or Bermuda.
